We run trips “rain or shine.” Whitewater rafting is an inherently wet activity, in fact we think this is the very best outdoor activity for a rainy day!

We accommodate 4-6 guests per boat. Occasionally we can accommodate groups of 7, depending on a variety of factors that influence a “game-time” decision.

The State of Tennessee requires all guests rafting on the Ocoee River be at least 12 years old.  Whitewater Express does not nor do we knowingly allow an underage person to raft on the Ocoee River.  To ensure we meet the age requirement, guests under the age of 18 must have their parent or legal guardian certify the guest’s age and sign the liability waiver form on the minor’s behalf.   A properly executed liability waiver must be provided at the time of check-in .

While we have met minors below the minimum age that seemed perfectly capable of rafting safely;  there have also been some guests older the minimum age that were not ready!  We will not waive age requirement on the Ocoee River for any reason.  Should you push the limit for your child?  No, it is simply not worth the risks involved!

Reservations are required. A lot goes into the planning of a river trip, including scheduling of guides, photographers and bus drivers. If you are nearby, you can walk-in to see if we have space, but please don’t drive long distances without a reservation as our trips are routinely full in the summertime.

We ask all our guests to arrive 30-45 minutes prior to you trip. This extra time is to complete our check-in process, and gear up for your Adventure. Please allow time for traffic, wrecks, etc as we cannot wait for latecomers.

Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting wet (because you will)! We recommend Quick dry activewear, swimsuits, and Sunscreen!  Avoid cotton clothing. All our guests must wear shoes that stay on their feet. Swim shoes, Sandals with a heel strap or even old sneakers work great. Flip flops are not recommended and shouldn’t be worn.

We raft on the weekends from mid-March to Memorial day. Five days a week (except Tuesdays and Wednesdays) from Memorial Day to Labor Day. And weekends from Labor Day to the end of October.

Because memories of your trip are important to us, we have photographers on-standby for each trip (weather permitting). On all of our river trips, you can view your photos as you return from your adventure!

Wetsuits are not needed for the majority of the year as we have warm water for the  majority of the year. If you’re rafting during the colder months, we’ve got you covered! Splash Jackets are provided free of charge and Wetsuits are available to rent for $5.

We are on eastern time.

Yes. We provide top-of-the-line safety equipment, including raft, personal flotation device, helmet and paddle (and cold-weather gear as necessary).

With over 40 years of experience, Whitewater Express’ risk management procedures are unsurpassed. We train our guides extensively and follow the most up-to-date industry standards. However, it is important that you and your group know this: Whitewater rafting, like all adventure activities, involves inherent risks. It is important that guests know their comfort level and take proper responsibility for their own safety. If Whitewater Express staff feel that any individual is not in the proper condition to raft, we reserve the right to not allow that individual to raft for his or her own safety.

No previous experience is necessary. Our experienced trail guides will go over basic horse instruction and safety prior to the ride.

All riders are required to be on their own horse and be able to control their horse. Therefore, our age requirement is strictly enforced.

We do not allow off property rentals, however the varying terrain on our 300 acre property allows riders of any skill level to enjoy their trip.
